The 1st Round of The National Championship Playoffs

#1 Oregon    Potential Record: 12-0
Pac 10 Champs
     Vs.
#16 Troy        Potential Record:  7-5
Sun Belt Champs

The Estimated Vegas Line: Oregon  -33.5   66.5

Tough draw for the Trojans. But they have to be pretty excited about being in the first ever playoff for the Division I College Football National Championship, right? Obviously this is a sleeper.  Oregon beat New Mexico 72-0. Thats a real life score. Not a Peter Pan score much like this is a Peter Pan tournament. Anyways, Oregon averages 50 points per game. Troy is ranked 90th in the country allowing just over 31 points per game. Yikes. Were going to take a guess at the score but I'm sure your guess is as good as ours. A lot to a little. The only reason it isn't worse is because Oregon rests their starters after the 3rd quarter. Thats some of the cool shit that would come into play in this tournament.

                  Oregon - 55
                   Troy - 10
The Ducks move on to the Elite 8. If Tostitos needs to make some money off of this we can just call it the Tostitos 8 for them.

#8 Nebraska                Potential Record     12-1
Big 12 Champ
          Vs.
#9 Ohio State              Potential Record:    11-1
At Large Bid

The Estimated Vegas Line: Nebraska -3.5   71.5

This game right here is one of the many reasons this tournament would be incredible. What an unreal opening round game. Nebraska comes out as a favorite because they are the higher seed and are at home. I'm not and oddsmaker so relax if you disagree with the line. The total has to be pretty close to accurate though. This would be an absolute shootout. Maybe the best two dual threat quarterbacks in the country. Nebraska's 17th ranked offense against Ohio States 5th ranked defense.  Ohio States 6th ranked offense against Nebraska's 10th ranked defense. Yes the defenses have good numbers, but only because they haven't played each other yet! This game would be so exciting. Just electrifying playmakers under center making big play after big play. And maybe you're thinking wait a second here, this game would suck. Maybe you're right. You'd probably be wrong but wouldn't it be great if we could just sit down and argue about it right up until kickoff? Then afterwards you could say "Wow, you don't know shit about college football." But perhaps you would be saying "You really know your college football shit". Either way it would mean that this game just happened and this tournament is a reality and everyone is going ape shit over awesome college football games. Oregon Vs. Nebraska in the second round? Yikes

                     Nebraska - 51
                     Ohio St.    - 45

#5 LSU                                     Potential Record: 11-2
At Large Bid
       Vs.
#12 Virginia Tech.                   Potential Record: 11-2
ACC Champ

The Estimated Vegas Line: LSU -8      41.5

This is an interesting game. Virginia Tech has run the table since losing their first two games to Boise State and James Madison. Figure that out. LSU sneakily ran through the brutal SEC losing only to Auburn at Auburn 24-17. Their second loss here would be a potential loss in the SEC championship. Who knows if they'll make it. This game is so strange because who knows if LSU can even score in this game. But could Virginia Tech even score? Is this a potential 3-0  five OT thriller? Could be. Both of these teams pride themselves on defense and special teams. Thats why its a dream match-up in a dream tournament. Literally a dream tournament. I think the advantage of the game being played in Death Valley helps LSU win this one. This game just screams game with crazy plays though. Two blocked punts, a kickoff return for a TD, goal line fumbles, and a trick play where the WR throws a 54 yard TD pass to the QB. I'm assuming V. Tech pulls off that last play because Jarret Lee isn't running past anyone. LSU in a close and messy but exciting game.

                       V. Tech  - 13
                        LSU      - 17

#4 Boise State                          Potential Record: 12-0
At Large Bid
      Vs.
#13 Pitt                                      Potential Record: 8-4
Big East Champ

The Estimated Vegas Line: Boise State -16.5      61

No Idea if Pitt is going to win the Big East. Does it really matter? Who ever comes out of the Big East will probably taste the same fate on the blue turf in Boise. Might as well be Syracuse just to add some more orange and blue to the equation. Then we'll see what HDTV is really capable of. Either way this is a laugher, right? Does Pitt somehow battle? No shot. Pitt lost to Notre Dame and that is just unacceptable. Boise runs it up pretty good and gets ready for a very scrappy LSU team who just defeated Virginia Tech in an absolute dogfight. This Tournament is so legit. It actually might be a good thing that it doesn't exist. It's like that opening day in March for the NCAA hoops tournament and you just sit on the couch and watch hoops from 11am Saturday morning until 9pm on Sunday night, and then you just can't wait until the next weekend to do the same. We need this tourney.

                Pitt          - 17
                Boise St  - 45
