A new member to the worst broadcasters in history list?

Last night we picked Atlanta to win on Thursday Night Football and they made a great 40 second, 80 yard drive to get us the W despite leading by 13 points in the fourth quarter. Yay another win, we start the weekend off good, blah, blah, blah that was not the story last night. The real story was in the broadcasting booth. Did anyone watch this game on the NFL Network? We have an emerging star in the making, as far as the broadcasting Hall of Annoyance goes. The prodigy is Joe Theisman. I know it isn't his first time calling football games but it is the first time I've really watched a game he has done, and WOW. He is BRUTAL. I mean we may have a potential Joe Morgan on our hands. Now obviously he doesn't talk about himself nearly as much as Joe, thats just absurd to even imagine. But his predictions on challenged calls last night were so perfectly terrible. He was dead set one play would be reversed and it was held up. Then he swore to the gods another play would be held up and it was reversed. And on the final drive of the game he was ready to sacrifice his first born if the catch Roddy White made on the sideline was not ruled incomplete, despite everyone in the booth and probably the contiguous United States disagreeing with him. Of course the play was ruled a catch and two plays later Matt Ryan hit Roddy White for the game winning touchy. I'm almost excited for another NFL Network game just to see what Joe comes up with.

This makes me ask the question, why do networks assume that if you have played the game at a high level, you can commentate the game on national television? Anyways coming up later will be the Hall of Annoyance for the worst broadcasters in history followed by an ode to Gus Johnson, perhaps the greatest broadcaster in the game. Gus Johnson can get me excited about a napping competition at the International Narcolepsy Games. He is there BEST there ever was or will be.
